Dr. Vincent Yu received his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he was a James B. Angell and Regents-Alumni scholar, graduating with distinction. He attended Wayne State University School of Medicine, and went on to ophthalmology training at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He then served 3 years in the U.S. Air Force, fulfilling his obligation under the Health Professions Scholarship Program, leaving with the rank of major. He is a board-certified Eye M.D. and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Yu has had lengthy experience with refractive surgery, first with radial keratotomy, and since 1996, laser vision correction, first with photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and then with LASIK. Dr. Yu himself has had lasik surgery. Among his own lasik graduates are many of the physicians with whom he works. These are discerning physicians who could have gone to anyone, but chose him to perform their surgery. Dr. Yu keeps current with the latest advances in refractive surgery by attending scientific seminars and visiting other refractive surgeons throughout the country.
In addition to refractive surgery, his expertise includes cataract surgery utilizing premium implant technology, including multifocal, accommodating, and toric lens implants. He diagnoses and treats medical diseases of the eye, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and external eye disease.
Out of the office, Dr. Yu enjoys time with his family, busy raising a young daughter, and when time allows, rock climbing.
